    Alt-Text for Links

Filed under: firefox extensions — Eric @ 11:21 am

Displays links’ destination URLs in a tooltip window. Based on Hiroshi Shimoda’s Popup Alt for Images extension. If a link has a title attribute, then the title will override the URL address.

Due to a bug in Mozilla, right now there is no support for multi-line tooltips.

I’m using FireFox 1.0.1 and this extension isn’t working for me–and Shimoda’s doesn’t either. Is there something that could disable these extensions? Help! Thanks!

Hi! This extension doesn’t display the tooltip with pictures which act as links. That would be a nice feature. (And the reason I got this extension in the first place.) Thanks for making extensions for Firefox!

Actually I wanted to see the target url as tooltip, not the ALT text. Handy for fullscreen if you want to know if some picture links to a video or audio or picture perhaps. Thanks for the suggestion though. Looks like I misunderstood the purpose of this extension too.

I was looking for an extension like this on the Mozilla site and couldn’t find it, but was delighted to find it here.

It works fine on Firefox 1.0.4, except as noted in a previous comment: it does not work if the “content” of the link is a picture rather than text. Basically, if the cursor turns into a hand, I would like to see where I would go if I clicked the mouse (as in Opera).

Thanks for your work on this extension!

I like the new site design!

And like others, hopefully there could be a version which shows the hyperlink content of where the link will take you to. I’ll be sure to check back.

The extension effects the tooltips appearance, so when I put cursor on one image then try to put it on another image it doesn’t show the tooltip. but if I remove that extension the tooltips work well
maybe there is somthing else in that extension code effects the tooltips functionality??!!

      I’m using Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.4

thank you for working on this ectension
