Here’s a bit more info about highlight:

Highlight is a way for regular people to link their world to ‘official’ news. It’s a firefox extension that helps anyone connect the official news world to user-generated content. Just like the highlighter you use to mark up things in the paper world, highlight grabs important (or infuriating!) quotes, news bites and kicks off a conversation on NowPublic.

But here’s where it gets interesting. When our members add photos or video to your story the published footage gets re-posted to the highlighter’s blog. We also link to the blog so the highlighter get traffic and props for starting the conversation. The tool also does some crazy auto-tagging too so anyone can post stuff almost totally effortlessly.
