ListZilla
Outputs either a plain text, vB code, or HTML file that lists all installed themes or extensions. The HTML/vB code versions will also link all extensions and themes to the authors’ respective pages. Not mozilla compatibile; current Firefox releases only. This will not list the default theme, the DOM Inspector (which is installed by default), or any extensions that do not use the extension manager.
Update: The new version is compatible with Flock and Firefox 1.5b1/1.5b2 *only*. It does not work for Firefox 1.0.6 or 1.0.7. There’s a significant change in the extension manager from the current stable to the next branch; I’m trying to fix it so it will be cross-compatibile, but for now, this will only work for Firefox 1.5b1 or higher.
If you still have Firefox 1.0.4, you can download a working version of this extension here.
Install ListZilla 0.7
(Size: 16kb Release Date: October 30th 2005)
Tested on Firefox 1.5b1 and Flock developer preview.

Is there a version for Thunderbird ?
March 10th, 2005 at 4:52 pm
Not presently.

Have Firefox 1.0.1; have added new Extensions; want to output new list; can’t figure out/remember how to re-engage ListZilla to update my archived list.

Sorry, just saw Tools/Listzilla option. Thanks.

A very usefull extension, i hope thath wull be released a version for Tbird.
PS: Sorry for my terrible english :/

Why has listzilla not been a part of the “official” firefox extensions site? If I didn’t already have a copy, I’d never know where to get it!
March 28th, 2005 at 12:00 pm
Great extension. Eric, you should provide an on-screen feature so it doesn’t force us to save a file. If this sounds dumb, pardon me. I’m new to extension development. :^)
April 1st, 2005 at 3:33 pm
Can I get the list with descriptions also in HTML as it is done in vB code (which has no use for me right now)?
April 16th, 2005 at 9:16 pm
A definate “girl friend” extension, one that makes you say “where have you been all my life?” :-)
Should been a normal part of Firefox.

Seeing this extension I was wondering if there is an extension or way to install all extensions/themes at once. for example I have been having trouble with FF and I know where the ext. are stored but uninstalling and reinstalling FF and then copying the extensions to the correct folder does nothing and installing all extensions is…well, a pain in the butt…

I have a small question. I tend to be really forgetful, and when I first installed Listzilla, I began toying with the password protection option. Sadly, I forgot I set it on, and now I can’t remember the password I put into it. Can anybody tell me how to recover or reset such a password? I’ll be really grateful. Thanks in advance.
April 26th, 2005 at 6:26 am
Add this:
Auto copy INSTALL fils to an extension/download folder as a security backup, so extensions can be IMPORTED upon data loss or given to a good fellow, installedto 2nd Computer etc.
I found a couple of diskussions about HOW TO recreate or copy the extensoins one has collected over the time.
April 26th, 2005 at 9:48 am
DZ, there’s no password feature associated with ListZilla.
April 26th, 2005 at 6:44 pm
Most weird, Eric. My copy of the extension does have a password protection option for the configuration dialog box (i.e. unless the correct password is entered, the config dialog won’t appear). Maybe it’s a modification/hack of your extension? The URL it’s associated with is this one, which makes it to me the more strange.
April 28th, 2005 at 10:30 am
DZ, you may have come across the same imitation ListZilla that I did. It’s listed in the Mozilla estensions database with the name ListZilla, but it’s actually an “experimental version of Roachfiend’s excellent Listzilla” but it also includes the option to upload your list of extensions to a del.icio.us-like web site that the developer set up. It’s a neat feature, but it’s also very misleading as it uses the same name as the original.
See http://listzilla.neilphillips.com/ for more info.
April 28th, 2005 at 10:45 am
Chris- I noticed the same thing the other day. I wrote Neil to ask him to change the name so as to not confuse people, but haven’t heard back from him yet.
May 5th, 2005 at 6:53 pm
Nice et very usefull extension for all my profiles. Only missing in title : the profile name, and the creation date of the list. Is it possible in a next release..? Thanks, and sorry for my poor english..!

I am giving Deer Park a whirl and many of my extensions work. I long for Listzilla though. I know this is premature and first I want to say a big “THANKS” for developing this wonderful extension in the first place. I realize you have a few extensions to work on for 1.1, I just wanted to put in a plug for Listzilla.
Again my thanks. Great work.
June 5th, 2005 at 1:00 am
Very excellent work all round…
July 10th, 2005 at 10:54 am
Do you plan to include any more features for this plugin, for instance options about the generation of the list, possibly a predetermined location to save to, etc.
July 20th, 2005 at 11:43 am
It would be great if ListZilla could compare the output from two installations, and highlight the differneces.
August 10th, 2005 at 1:41 am
ListZilla
If you’re a Firefox user (what do you mean you’re not a Firefox user?) you’ll probably have a specific collection of favourite extensions. Google search bar, web developer bar, perhaps Stumbleupon. But what a pain in the ass to reinstall…
October 8th, 2005 at 10:13 am
Version 0.6 doesn’t seem to work in FF 1.07 for me.
It shows the save dialog, but does not execute the save.
October 8th, 2005 at 6:56 pm
I have the same problem jrf does. I first encountered it in Linux and then tried it on Windows with the same results.
October 9th, 2005 at 9:10 am
I should have updated the original post to reflect that. The handling for the extension manager changed from 1.0.4 > 1.5b1, so both ListZilla and Ext2Abc won’t work with the current stables, but they will work with 1.5b1. I’m still trying to figure out a way for them all to play nicely together, but it hasn’t happened yet.
October 11th, 2005 at 10:34 pm
Thanks for the update Eric. Was wondering why LZ no longer worked.
November 2nd, 2005 at 2:07 am
Does it work with 1.5RC1?
November 2nd, 2005 at 7:47 am
Perhaps. I’ve been super busy as of late, and no real free time to test things. Until then, I’m sure someone will chime in and say if it does or doesn’t.
If I were a betting man, which I am, I would wager yes.
November 3rd, 2005 at 10:10 am
I have version 0.7 of ListZilla installed on my Mac (OS 10.4.2) using FF v1.0.5.
I’ve quit and relaunched FF several times.
when I go the Export my extensions using either HTML or Text… I get the dialog box that asks me what I want to name the file and where I want to save it.
but after I click OK - I get no file.
November 7th, 2005 at 11:29 am
@JDWaters: Read the bold paragraph at the top of this page. The current version of ListZilla is not compatible with Firefox 1.0.x. You need to download the older version linked there.
November 11th, 2005 at 10:24 am
Great extension… thank you. Two wishes for future versions… support for YaBBCode (YaBB 2.1 was just released, YaBBCode is nearly identical to BBCode with extras). And being able to copy the ListZilla details to the clipboard. :)
November 14th, 2005 at 10:18 pm
So this does not work with 1.0.7 right now? I can’t get it to work.
November 26th, 2005 at 5:07 pm
Thanks for the update great extension :D
December 2nd, 2005 at 12:20 pm
Could you post this updated version of ListZilla on https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=502&application=firefox ?
It’s still only showing 0.6.9.
Thanks…

I lov ethis extension. Have you thought of writing one with the same functionality but instead of extensions export Bookmarks as a HTML page? Would be totally KICK ASS!!!
December 16th, 2005 at 3:54 pm
I can’t find the file after it’s created. I’ve tried reinstalling the extension a couple of times. I’ve tried searching for the file; I’ve tried creating both HTML and text files. It’s just not there.
December 17th, 2005 at 8:25 pm
now this is a great extension. I love being able to keep a list of the many extension I use for when I get switched to different offices or machines at work.
thanks a lot
December 18th, 2005 at 3:03 pm
I’m using version 0.7 with Firefox 1.5 and noticed one minor issue. When the HTML is output, the title of the page is “Installed Extensions - ListZilla 0.6″.
December 27th, 2005 at 5:13 pm
Oh good, just came on to check the latest version and investigate the 0.7 reporting on HTML outputs as 0.6 bug. Glad I’m not the only one having this. (and it’s such a minor thing too) :)
Thanks for the handy dandy extension!
January 3rd, 2006 at 1:52 pm
You should write a firefox version in the output files, so we can read it more clearly. Thanks.
January 6th, 2006 at 5:41 pm
Listzilla itself needs a homepage! 8and that needs to be in the XUL file)
becuase the “homepage” of this extension is only http://roachfiend.com
I’d prefer a page for listzilla itself that provides an “install now” button.
February 8th, 2006 at 5:48 am
my work firewall has started blocking the download location for extensions in Firefox so I need ot get updates to the extensions from home. What would be fantastically useful is if Listzilla could indicate which extensions have updates available.
February 17th, 2006 at 6:44 pm
One option I’d love to see in ListZilla is the ability to display separate lists for extensions vs. themes, rather than putting extensions and themes all in the same list all mixed together.
I also agree with the earlier poster (Andy, back in July 2005) who suggested the ability to highlight differences between two installations.
February 23rd, 2006 at 9:37 am
Installed Local Install 4.2.2. Was prompted if I wanted to un-install Listzilla. Said yes, BUT, now how do I get a list of installed extensions and themes.
Having different computers at home and work, the Listzilla html file of extensions and themes was most useful.
Than you,
February 25th, 2006 at 1:26 pm
When I export the extensions list to text it gives me the correct list, but when I export it to HTML it gives an outdated list.
Using Firefox 1.5.0.1 on Linux and ListZilla 0.7
March 4th, 2006 at 8:38 am
How can I use the html/vb code in my homepage? It’s great to also have the description, but listzilla does only export the description to html/vb and not html
March 18th, 2006 at 11:52 am
Is there a reason for this extension not being listed at Mozilla Update? :)
March 29th, 2006 at 1:47 am
Christian, possibly using search would be good.
Check this out.
March 29th, 2006 at 5:57 pm
Great. Now do me a favor and develop an extension that let’s me export the urls of all the tabs I have open in Firefox. I need this so I can reopen the same windows I had open on another machine. I know, I know, I could run my Firefox from a thumbdrive, but grumble grumble grumble…
March 30th, 2006 at 12:51 am
I’ve been looking for something like this for a long time.
Thank you!!
April 30th, 2006 at 5:46 pm
Not clear to me which version I have to use for FF 1.07. Is it rhe “listzilla_old.xpi”
June 7th, 2006 at 1:50 pm
how does this work? i installed it properly, but there’s no button, menu item, or anything to have it make this extension list. Options is greyed out in the extensions menu.
using on ff 1.5.0.3
i guess i could see if the old version works…
June 10th, 2006 at 12:12 pm
You ever think about adding a toolbar button for this? I personally like toolbar buttons more than menu items… easier to get to.
June 20th, 2006 at 5:06 pm
Very nice, thanks for creating this.
July 2nd, 2006 at 7:11 pm
Is there a way to define a default output method (html, txt) directory and filename??
Also is there a way to invoke the output after event (firefox start, periodically with timer)???
If none of the above are available as options do you think you can add them.
July 14th, 2006 at 1:18 pm
well, its a cool extension but it would be even cooler if:
-it added the creation date to the list
-it listed correct listzilla version (well, it does LIST the correct version, but the title says listzilla 0.6, even though i have 0.8 installed
-it separated themes and non-theme extensions
also, it did, for some reason, list google search as a theme’s url… the said theme seems to be corrupt anyway, but it’s still weird.
July 16th, 2006 at 7:54 pm
very nice ext thank you :)
I’m just toying with linux & looked around for something like this to get my fav ext’s up quicky & no hassle
